About the Book

This book will be of interest to students who have taken a first course in statistical analysis, and now need to know to use regression analysis in more depth, and to experienced researchers, who may require a reference for some aspects of regression analysis.  The book takes a conceptual approach to regression analysis, starting with simple models, and then slowly building up to enable understanding of more complex ideas.
The book contains three parts:
Part I, called 'I need to do regression analysis tomorrow,' introduces the idea of models, showing how the mean is an example of a least squares model, which can be expanded to form a regression analysis.  This is then generalised to multiple regression, and multiple regression with categorical variables.
Part II, 'I need to do regression next week,' looks at some of the assumptions that regression analysis makes, and examines some of issues that need to be considered in regression analysis.  The assumptions and issues are all discussed in terms of the simpler model which only included the mean.
Part III, 'I want to know some more of the things that regression analysis can do,' examines some more advanced uses of regression analysis, including logistic regression, non-linear regression, and moderator and mediator analysis.  Finally, this section introduces the reader to multilevel modelling and structural equation modelling.
